PEARLS OF WISDOM

His Holiness Sathguru Sri Gnanananda Giri Swamigal used to guide the spiritual aspirants through letters. Here is an English translation of one such letter written to a devotee. The translation does not, of course, faithfully reflect the precise meaning of the original.
- Remove the three obstacles.
- Cleanse yourself of three impurities.
- Extinguish the two deeds.
- Practise forbearance also.
- Protect yourself against ignorance and delusion.
- Drive away the demon of desire.
- Have compassion for all living beings.
- Have faith in Divinity.
- Have companionship with men-of-wisdom.
- Shun the wicked.
- Be humble towards everyone.
- Utter kind words.
- Annihilate the ego.
- Be firmly absorbed in the self.
- Perform without fail your duty with peace and tranquility.
- Be desirous of helping other living beings.
- Do not desire other’s help.
- Ignore the knowledge derived through the five senses.
- Enrich the knowledge of Truth Absolute.
- Pass your days retreating within and detached from the sense-objects of the external world.
Let us pray the Omnipotent Almighty for His Grace.
